i love this poem too (not surprisingly, since i’m susie’s sister!)
i tend to carry poems in my head… one of my favourites is…
Bat, bat, come under my hat
And I’ll give you a slice of bacon
And when I bake, I’ll make you a cake
If I am not mistaken
i first saw it in the Oxford book of nursery rhymes edited by Iona and Peter Opie
apparently it was written by William Allingham (1824-1889)
he was an Irish poet, which surprised me, because i always “heard” it in a Yorkshire accent…
