I carry Pablo Neruda’s ‘Ode to my Socks’ in my knitting bag. I love knitting socks – it’s therapeutic and creative at the same time – but, until I came across this poem, I hadn’t thought of these humble hand-knitted objects as being:
jewel cases
woven
with threads of
dusk
and sheep’s wool
It makes me feel like an artist rather than a domestic drudge!
