I realised last week that my Mum carried a poem in exactly the same way I do – magnet-ed to her fridge.
I was taking down her fridge poetry (the shopping lists, the messages, the random collection of left-over words) and I noticed a very deliberate single line: ‘sans une parole’. Now I think about it, it’s been there for years.
It’s from ‘Déjeuner du matin’ by Jacques Prévert. I find it rather touching that Mum chose to remember the impact of wordlessness, of a choice not to communicate, through poetry.

Thanks Marsha – glad the story moved you. I’m no poet, but it’s good to be able to reach out to others through words and images.
I found this story very touching. I think there’s a poem in it and perhaps Helen will write it. Or perhaps she has.
